ABOUT LORMA COLLEGE

Founded in 1970 by its director Dr. Rufino L. Macagba Jr., The School was initially established to fill the need for a nursing School in support of the fast expanding then Lorma Hospital (now Lorma Medical Center). He pushed forth this vision and endeavour through the encouragement of the Lorma founders who were both doctor-educators: Dr. Rufino N. Macagba Sr. and Dra. Crispma Lorennzana- Macagba. Aptly named Lorma to refer to the first syllable of the founders’ surname Lorenzana and Macagba, the School grew from a small nursing school to a higher education recognized as the region’s best performing school with a solid record of recognitions received for its exemplary performance in the Board Examinations in Paramedical courses including Nursing, Radiologic Technology and Physical Therapy since 1989 to present, Lorma continues to produce the greatest number of board topnotchers in the region. Lorma College offers a number of Bachelors Decree programme in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Radiogic Technology, Accountancy, Business Management and Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Health Services Management, Psychology, Education, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Post Graduate studies in Nursing and short term EDP converses. It is necessary to mention that because the aforementioned overseas universities have capacity to carry large number of students, they are much willing to accommodate good number of students from Eastland School of Arts and Sciences.

MEDICAL/ LAW STUDENTS TO NOTE:
To read Medicine in Philippines, just like other advanced countries, a student is required to first of all obtain a first degree in either Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or other related disciplines. So for students who intend to read Medicine/Pharmacy under this Programme, they would be admitted to READ any of the aforementioned sciences in Eastland for four semesters (2 sessions),thereafter, they would transfer to University of Northern Philippines where they will complete the remaining four semesters to obtain their B.Sc. With his B.Sc, the student would be qualified to enroll for another eight-semester MBBS programme.
To read Law, a student is also required to obtain a bachelors degree in any other discipline before he could be admitted into the College of Law, where he would spend another six semesters to bag his LL.B.
One thing certain about this programme is that the student is sure to bag his B.Pharm, MBBS or Law on record time, as strike is a strange vocabulary in that country.
WHEN TO TRAVEL A student is qualified to travel if he was admitted into Imo State University under this programme, and has completed at least his/her 200 level degree course.
Once he/she has completed his 200 levels, he fills the Overseas Transfer Form and this kickstarts the processing of his visa by the Visa Processing Unit.

The cost of traveling to Philippines is as follows:

NOTE OF WARNING!!!
Students and parents usually play down on the documents they are required to provide as enumerated above. They should understand that the processing of visa has international standard that must be complied with, otherwise, the student would be denied visa.
It is a cheering news however, to note the fact that arrangement is being made with the Embassy of Philippines, so that an Embassy staff would be coming to Eastland to issue students their visa right here, instead of the usual several strenuous travels to Abuja for that purpose.
